Through this portal, you can access your health plan benefits, review claims, find in-network providers and manage your account. You can access BlueAccess for Members via the BCBSTX mobile app or through their website. To register, you will need your ID card to complete the sign-up process.
New employees must submit their initial enrollment requests within 31 calendar days of starting their employment at the university. Your health insurance becomes effective on the first day of hire. If you do not complete your enrollment within this timeframe, you will have to wait until the next annual summer enrollment period, unless you experience a qualifying life event (QLE).
Summer Enrollment occurs each year in early July. This is your annual opportunity to request enrollment or make election changes to your health insurance. During this time, employees can add or drop coverage, change plans, and make other adjustments to their benefits with these changes being effective September 1.
Certain qualifying life events (QLE) permit specific election changes with supporting documentation. Your enrollment or election change request must be submitted within 31 calendar days of the qualifying mid-year event and must be consistent with the event. Most QLEs are effective the first of the month following the QLE date.
