Health Insurance

黑料天堂 employees can choose from several medical and dental plans offered through the Employee Retirement System (ERS). Medical plans are administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, dental plans by Delta Dental, and the vision plan by EyeMed Vision Care.

  • : A network-based, point-of-service (POS) plan.
  • : A high-deductible health plan (HDHP), paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA).
  • : A network-based, preferred provider organization (PPO) plan, available only to employees or dependents who live or work outside the state of Texas.

is a secure online portal provided by BlueCross BlueShield of Texas for HealthSelect participants. Through this portal, you can access your health plan benefits, review claims, find in-network providers and manage your account. You can access BlueAccess for Members via the BCBSTX mobile app or through their website. To register, you will need your ID card to complete the sign-up process.

Dental Insurance

  • : A preferred provider organization plan that offers flexibility in choosing dentists.
  • : A dental health maintenance organization (HMO) plan that requires selecting a primary care dentist and offers lower out-of-pocket costs for services.

Enrollment and Election Changes

New employees must submit their initial enrollment requests within 31 calendar days of starting their employment at the university. Your health insurance becomes effective on the first day of hire. If you do not complete your enrollment within this timeframe, you will have to wait until the next annual summer enrollment period, unless you experience a qualifying life event (QLE).

Summer Enrollment occurs each year in early July. This is your annual opportunity to request enrollment or make election changes to your health insurance. During this time, employees can add or drop coverage, change plans, and make other adjustments to their benefits with these changes being effective September 1.

Certain qualifying life events (QLE) permit specific election changes with supporting documentation. Your enrollment or election change request must be submitted within 31 calendar days of the qualifying mid-year event and must be consistent with the event. Most QLEs are effective the first of the month following the QLE date.

The following is a list of life events that may enable you to change your benefit elections:

  • Change in your employment status
  • Change in your marital status
  • Change in your number of dependents

Changes to your health insurance plan can be completed by submitting the Benefit Election Form to Human Resources.
